5-Star Review: Cavs invade and take the North

The Raptors have made themselves out to be Eastern Conference contenders this season, but have now dropped games at home to the Bulls, the Mavericks, and the Cavaliers. The Cavs were on a back to back, and even without DeMar DeRozan, this was set up to be an opportunity for the Raptors to put their best foot forward.

Instead, the Cavaliers put their foot somewhere else.

Tristan Thompson had nine offensive rebounds on his way to 21 points and 14 boards, and just crushed the Raps inside. LeBron James casually breezed his way to 24 points, seven rebounds, 13 assists, three steals and a block, which made up for Kyrie Irving having a quiet night from the field. But it should be noted that Irving, who really has been terrible defensively this year, was quite good Friday, attacking Kyle Lowry’s dribble.

Meanwhile, the Raptors couldn’t hit water if they fell out of a boat unless they were Amir Johnson. Even Kyle Lowry had a quiet 22 on 18 shots. The Cavaliers just muscled their way into thRodgers is delighted to have Alan Birchenall around the club.Rodgers says he continues to learn a great deal about the Football Club when chatting with the former Foxes midfielder. He said: “He’s a wonderful guy, I have to say. He’s a real characteis win, and it was really impressive on the back to back. They were just better. The Raptors now lead the conference by just a game.

The Knicks were on a back to back and the Hornets came out desperate, needing to break their losing streak. And it looked great for three quarters. But then after pushing the lead to ten, the Hornets just melted down.

Carmelo Anthony walked into a three with Marvin Williams who has neither the size nor speed to hang with him guarding him. Then after an Al Jefferson tippy-toe miss, this happened.

After Walker falls, Williams is in an impossible position. At first I was screaming because why would you ever leave Carmelo Anthony in the corner. But Prigioni is a 48 percent three-point shooter. There was no win there. So it looked like the Hornets had snatched defeat from the jaws of victory.

And then Kemba did his thing.

Jose Calderon had this neat idea about shooting a jumper. Kemba Walker informed him this plan was flawed, and would not be happening this evening, inviting him to take his structurally unsound fecal matter and remove it from the premises.

The Sixers went back to their losing ways vs. the Thunder, but rookie K.J. McDaniels continues to amaze, with plays like this one. Up, way up, way way way up.

: Get out of the way, Chris! Don’t try and be a hero! Don’t do it! You have so much to live for!

Too late.

: Glad we could clear that up.

Full Rondo quote on Kobe Bryant: “He called me an asshole, andAlex Collado was thrilled to make his Barcelona debut in defeat at Celta Vigo. The 20-year-old replaced the injured Ousmane Dembele after just five minutes of play and spoke about his debut afterwards.”I was more nervous in the warm-up,” he said.”Ernesto Valverde is a fantastic coach, he knows how to manage the dressing room and that’s not easy.”He always tells me to play like I do in the B team.” I thought of the same thing of him. Just two assholes having breakfast.”

: The Lakers had been good at being competitive vs. the Eastern Conference.

That ended Friday as the Celtics rolled them big time. The problem was the interior. Tyler Zeller was 10-of-11 from the floor for 24 points, and Jared Sullinger added 17. They crushed Robert Sacre, Carlos Boozer, and Jordan Hill inside. The Lakers’ bigs just watched the Celtics get by them and go over them. Rondo had 12 points, eight rebounds, and 16 assists, while Jeff Green dropped in 19 on 8-of-10 shooting.

19 second-chance points for the Celtics Friday.

Rajon Rondo was plus-40. Kobe Bryant was minus-29.

: Here’s the Nets’ shot chart at one point in their beatdown from the Hawks Friday:

The Nets couldn’t hit anything Friday, and thes Torreira, according to reports. The Uruguayan midfielder admitted last week that he was not enjoying living in London. This prompted AC Milan to sound out the Gunners over a possible switch. The Serie A club are set to appoint Torreira’s former manag Hawks are not a great defensive team. But they just clowned Brooklyn. The Nets had been feeling good after a fluke win vs. the Spurs and a victory over New York. Nope. Let’s not forget this team is a disaster. The Nets that it was just “one of those nights,” but it sure seemed like superior execution from a team who has a purpose rather than the Net’s collection of names.

: The Spurs did their usual Spurs thing to Memphis Friday. They hit a bunch of three-point shots, doubled the Grizz effectively inside, and Memphis’s shooting, which has been better this year, wilted.

: Tim Duncan had a 3D friday with 14 points, 10 rebounds, and 10 assists on 6-of-12 shooting. Duncan at 38 is the second-oldest player to ever get a triple-double behind Karl Malone.

: John Wall hit this insane block, and then landed on his teammate’s face. OW.

: The Pacers extended their run to 10-2 as a road underdog vs. the spread this season, and the Magic extended their run as road dogs to 10-4. The Pacers lost in overtime, but really, covering is what matters.
